Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all bicycles, including brake adjustments, drivetrain tuning, tire replacement, and wheel truing
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on a variety of bike types
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records
- Conduct daily safety checks prior to rental operations
- Complete seasonal overhauls of the fleet during off-peak periods
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; communicate reordering needs
- Ensure area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Assist guests with basic bike adjustments (seat height, helmet fitting, etc.)
- Support front-line rental operations as needed during peak periods
- Provide friendly, professional guest service consistent with Callaway Gardens standards
- Authorized driver for bike drop-off and pick-up for rentals at lodge, cottages and villas.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and all major holidays
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Completion of a background check
- Bicycle mechanic certification (e.g., Barnett’s, UBI, or equivalent) preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Physical Requirements
- Standing and/or walking for long periods of time
- Moderate lifting, bending, and pushing, up to 50 lbs
- Ability to complete the course and make rescues as necessary.
- Sweep, dust, and pick up/dispose of trash.
Work Environment
- Combination of workshop and outdoor rental environment
- Fast-paced during peak seasons (Spring Break, Summer, holidays)
- Collaborative team setting within Recreation operations

- Be able to positively motivate and lead a team, conveying information and ideas clearly and effectively so that ownership of high levels of guest service is understood to be the role of each individual team member.
- Be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Be able to work well in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity, including the ability to listen carefully to and resolve guest issues to the satisfaction of the affected guests.
- Be able to identify potential guest issues and then develop methodologies to prevent or limit the impact of those guest issues during guest visits.
- Be able to assimilate complex information and data for various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the need.
- Be able to effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
- Be able to work with and understand financial information and data and perform basic math functions.
