Major Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervises an assigned work crew; ensures that safety procedures are followed.
- Mows grass; edges roadways; places pine straw.
- Picks up litter; empties trash cans.
- Cuts bushes; blows leaves.
- Mows, marks, and drags ball fields; replaces bases and pitching rubber.
- Inspects vehicles and equipment; performs general maintenance duties; maintains inventory of supplies and tools; washes vehicles.
- Mops and waxes floors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in park grounds and facilities maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of the techniques used in the maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Skill in the operation of lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and other motorized and hand tools.
- Skill in problem solving and decision making.
- Skill in the supervision of personnel.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
Minimum Educational and Training Requirements

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education; two to three years of progressively responsible related experience. Must possess a valid driver's license. This position is required to supervise state inmate labor. Employee must pass the Department of Corrections three-day certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally six months but may be altered.
Physical Requirements

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
