REPORTS TO: COO
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Full Time
Essential functions
Assist the Bereavement Team Coordinator with clerical duties related to the bereavement department
No Supervisory Responsibilities

- Must be able to independently carry out and prioritize assigned job duties.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
- Minimum of six months of clerical experience required; in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Must be able to proficiently work with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with an electronic medical record system is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Vaccines
- Influenza vaccine during influenza season (Nov. – March) required
- Reliable personal transportation required
- Valid drivers’ license, auto insurance, and good driving record as per company policy
- CPR Certification preferred
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak professionally to patients, physicians and others in the organization via telephone and personal communication.
Position Requirements (not all inclusive)
- Enter family members into the EMR system
- Create and send condolence cards/communications to family members
- Prepare call lists for the week
- Chart the volunteer notes each week
- Handle return mail (to include cancellation of future mailings)
- Prepare reports as needed
- Provide administrative support with all bereavement programs (bi-annual memorial service, Camp Hope, Holiday Hope, etc…)
- Answer phone calls (direct calls and voicemails) as needed
- Take all reasonable precautions to maintain privacy and non-disclosure of any confidential information about patients, other staff members, and the general operations of Columbus Hospice.
- Always represent the company in a positive and professional manner to include but not limited to: co-workers, management, vendors, and customers.
- Complete all job responsibilities in a thorough and complete manner, utilizing good judgment in all aspects of the job.
- When unsure of a directed task or any part of job responsibilities, proactively seek the assistance of immediate supervisor.
- Ensure job responsibilities are met, including attendance requirements and prompt arrival at work.
- Assist with special projects, as requested.
- Always maintain patient/family member confidentiality
- All other job duties as may be assigned.
