Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.

The Event / Facilities Setup Technician plays a vital role in supporting campus life by preparing venues for university events and handling the transportation of furniture and equipment across campus. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to ensure classrooms, conference rooms, athletic venues, and special event spaces are configured correctly and safely. The Event / Facilities Setup Technician will report to the Campus Services Manager and Assistant Director of Facilities Management.

  • Furniture & Equipment Relocation: Load, transport and assembly and unload heavy furniture, office supplies, boxes, and institutional equipment to setup events, meetings and campus moves.
  • Event Setup & Breakdown: Arrange tables, chairs, stages, podiums according to event diagrams and safety codes. Dismantle setups promptly after events conclude.
  • Facility Maintenance Support: Operates basic power tools and equipment needed to perform work.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols when lifting heavy objects and operating state vehicles, trucks, or utility carts.
  • Customer Service: Interact professionally with faculty, staff, students, and external guests to accommodate last-minute adjustments to event layouts.
  • Site Cleanup: Remove debris and dispose of packing materials or trash responsibly.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED.

Valid State of Georgia Driver's License with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).

6 months to 1 year of hands-on experience in moving, warehouse operations, or event setup experience.

Experience with large university and/or multi-campus parking operations.

This position often requires a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends, depending on the university's event calendar.

Physical Qualifications

Active Movement: Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time to include, but not limited to, lifting, pushing, pulling objects up to 50-75 pounds.

Environments: Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

Experience working in a higher education environment.
