The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for Part-Time instructors for Interdisciplinary Studies. Drawing on principles of interdisciplinary learning, the instructor guides students in connecting ideas across disciplines, exploring academic pathways, and identifying opportunities that align with their interests, strengths, and career aspirations. UNG interdisciplinary courses emphasize critical thinking, self-reflection, effective communication, and the development of personalized academic and success plans.
- As an adjunct faculty member, you will employ a variety of effective strategies to enhance student learning, stimulate class discussions, and encourage active participation. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate course-related records, promptly assessing student coursework, and providing timely feedback on their progress.
- As a member of the professional teaching staff, you will play a key role in implementing the mission of the University of North Georgia and delivering high-quality instruction in your respective discipline.
- The ideal candidate will be able to effectively engage the UNG student population and meet the standards set by our accreditation agency. Responsibilities may include teaching during the day, evening, weekends, and/or online instruction.
- Teach and conduct college courses for undergraduate students.
- Prepare and deliver course instructions using instructional materials.
- Develop, administer, and grade assignments and assessments.
- Submit university required academic records such as roll verification forms and final grades.
- Attend meetings as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use technology effectively in the classroom, including learning management systems and educational software.
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation, collaboration, and critical discussion.
- Master's degree is required.
- Experience teaching online, hybrid, or face-to-face courses at the college or university level.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and support the UNG student population through effective instructional practices.
- Experience facilitating interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and student-centered discussions.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and retention.
- Experience working with first-year college students in a teaching, advising, or student support role.
- Experience using learning management systems and instructional technologies to support teaching and learning.
