Columbus Technical College is seeking a full-time Network Administrator, Jr., for our Information Technology Department. Under supervision and training from senior level staff, administers network systems for the college. Trains and coordinates the training of employees (both intradepartmental and interdepartmental). Documents and maintains up to date procedures for network systems on campus. Consults with users in the design of systems and networks. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and applies pertinent new knowledge to performance of other responsibilities. Maintains a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business and providing services or products to clients, co-workers, the general public and other customers. Interacts with all levels of state personnel in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance. Candidates should be able to demonstrate entry level knowledge of IP schemes, VLANs, and common best practices for enterprise network configurations. High degree of attention to detail and learning from senior level staff following best practices to ensure continuous operations of mission critical technology. This position is full-time/exempt.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide detailed technical documentation of developed processes and systems to ensure ease of maintenance or enhancement of the systems by co-workers
  • Work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations
  • Conduct research into administrative system issues and products as required
  • Present ideas in user-friendly language

  • Installs, configures, and maintains network cabling and other networking equipment such as hubs, switches, and UPS.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Collaborate with Banner Services when necessary to deliver projects and data
  • Prepare reports in requested format within requested time frame
  • Develop and/or assist with the advancement of policies and procedures and recommend changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the department
  • Maintain knowledge of assigned department and give updates to management on services, operations, and projects
  • Monitor network for malicious devices and work with Information Technology team to remediate said devices.
  • Work with security personnel to maintain camera and access control systems.
  • Participate in meetings to ensure department goals are in line with agency or technical college goals
  • Travel for state meetings, trainings, professional development, and system upgrades as necessary
  • Conduct regular evaluation of services provided and adjust as needed
  • Maintain up to date with policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with, and serve as a liaison to, internal and external customers
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma and certifications in a related field such as CompTIA Net+ or Cisco CCT/CCNA/CCNP
**Note: Experience may substitute for certifications**

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field
-OR-
  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience deploying and maintaining network equipment including but not limited to core switching, edge switching, and wireless deployments.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is $50,000 - $55,000 annually. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
