Columbus Technical College seeks a dedicated and experienced professional to serve as a full-time Director of Clinical Education/Technical Instructor in our Respiratory Care program. This individual will be responsible for classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and overseeing all aspects of the clinical education experience. The Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, and revision of the clinical curriculum, ensuring students gain the necessary skills and experience for success in the field. This role involves developing and maintaining clinical partnerships, coordinating student clinical schedules, evaluating student progress, and ensuring program compliance with certification and accreditation requirements. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for creating lesson plans, attending professional development events, and maintaining required documentation and reports. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Tentative Start Date: April 16, 2025
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to move about or stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, reach, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction & Curriculum Development
- Teach and mentor students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
- Develop and update program and course outlines, ensuring alignment with state standards and evolving industry practices.
- Evaluate student progress toward learning objectives and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate student records in ACEMAPP (clinical rotation management service).
- Clinical Program Oversight
- Lead and manage all aspects of clinical experiences, ensuring a consistent and well-rounded experience for all students.
- Develop and maintain clinical site partnerships to support evolving practice skills.
- Create and manage clinical schedules to ensure equitable and diverse training opportunities.
- Conduct regular student evaluations to monitor progress, address deficiencies, and implement remediation plans as needed.
- Compliance & Accreditation
- Maintain program certification and licensure requirements in accordance with CoARC Standards.
- Prepare and manage all necessary documentation, reports, and administrative records.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols in training environments.
- Collaboration & Professional Development
- Participate in advisory committee meetings, faculty meetings, and professional development events (workshops, seminars, and conferences).
- Assist with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
- Provide ongoing training and evaluations for clinical instructors and preceptors.
- Engage in professional activities and organizations related to respiratory care.
- Other Responsibilities
- Respond to administrative requests in a timely manner.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Current Georgia state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
- At least four (4) years of experience as an RRT, including:
- Minimum of two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching in an accredited respiratory care program, either as an appointed faculty member or clinical preceptor.
- One or more years of experience teaching respiratory care in post-secondary education.
- Current Alabama state license.
- Advanced certifications, including:
- Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
