Job duties include working with parents of teens and children enrolled in our organization's clinical services. Will work closely with the parents of the child's clinical team leader to implement the treatment process. Must have personal experience ("I have lived experience") as a parent whose child received mental health services or child welfare and be able to appropriately disclose and share that experience with the parents of teens and children up to the age of 21 years, in order to foster hope, build resiliency, and develop self-advocacy skills that will empower them to achieve their goals. Peer support specialists provide structured, scheduled activities that promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, development of natural supports and maintenance of community living skills.

Job Requirements: Must have a high school diploma/GED from a state accredited school/source. Current/valid driver's license or identification card. Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills, be familiar with word processing, and have personal experience with mental health as a child or adolescent receiving mental health services. A parent peer support specialist is a provider who is parenting or has parented a child experiencing mental, emotional, or behavioral health disorders and can articulate the understanding of their experience with another parent or family member.
