Description

The CACFP Health and Nutrition Specilaist is responsible for the overall development, implementation, coordination, management, and evaluation of the nutrition program to promote an interest in nutrition, commitment to meeting children's nutritional needs and an understanding of nutrition's impact on child development. Manage the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) while ensuring compliance with criteria set by federal and state guidelines and regulations and Enrichment Services Program policies and procedures. Possess strong leadership skills while providing training to employees. Works collaboratively with the DECFS Director to facilitate and coordinate nutrition services necessary to meet requirements outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards for the Early Head Start & Head Start Preschool Programs.

Qualifications

Education Level 4: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education/experience.

Experience Level 3: Four to six years

Certification ServSafe, CPR First Aid If a degree isn’t available, the following certification is needed - CACFP Child Nutrition Profession or CACFP Management Professional

· Ensures that monitoring visits are completed to maintain compliance, providing technical assistance to staff and

members, and completing Corrective Action Documents for CACFP as needed.

· Provides documentation and assists with completing CACFP certification and re-certification applications.

· Prepares and submits all required reports, conducts second review for monthly provider claims, enters claim data

in a GA & AL database for reimbursement and processes check requests, and reviews all required meal count

certification for accuracy and completeness.

· Stays up to date on all CACFP guidelines and procedures.

· Oversees the annual food program reviews and audits and provide information as required.

· Provides staff training, as needed, and provide the required on-site program monitoring, training, and technical

assistance for food programs. Complete training requirements annually such as Civil Rights training while

ensuring all staff have been trained upon onboarding.

· Represents Enrichment Services Program, Inc. in a professional manner to vendors, community partners and the

public.

· Develops menus that meet established nutritional requirements for children.

· Ensures menus are approved by a licensed nutritionist/dietician.

· Works cooperatively to develop and implement a cost-effective and efficient food procurement and inventory

system that meets procurement policies for each state agency.

· Assists with the evaluation of formal and informal bids, as well as awarding the contracts for approval.

· Approves and forwards invoices and purchase orders for the food service area to the Finance department.

· Develops and implements inventory and stock control protocols for equipment and supplies and recommends

replacement and disposal of obsolete equipment as necessary.

· Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents as required. Involves key staff and/or

Board members when appropriate in the grant submission processes.

· Monitors program budget.

· Assists Finance with CACFP Audits

· Meets with Finance monthly to review, monitor and complete monthly reimbursement sheet.

· Completes and submits annual CACFP re-certification applications.

· Monitors centers for compliance in accordance with the CACFP program, at least quarterly.

· Reviews all enrollment data for accuracy and completeness, KidKare and BLS sheets.

· Supervises CACFP Tech for efficiency and effectiveness.

· Utilizes SafetyCulture monitoring system to ensure technical assistance, center visits and CACFP monitoring is completed at a minimum monthly. · Ensures kitchen staff receives training throughout the program year.

· Maintains a list of all operating kitchens licensing (inspections, due dates, etc.).

· Reviews and maintains copies of all Health Department kitchen inspections . ·

. Completes corrective action plan for all centers not received 100% on kitchen inspections. · Attends out-of-town travel/training required.

· Performs other duties as assigned.
