What You’ll Do
As the Financial Services Manager, you’ll take ownership of developing, implementing, and overseeing community-based financial services programs, including free tax preparation and financial education workshops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise VITA program staff, volunteers, and AmeriCorps members, ensuring comprehensive training in tax law, software, and program procedures
- Monitor the effective use of IRS certification tools and other platforms to support volunteer and staff training and certification. Provide ongoing coaching, support, and professional development while fostering a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment.
- Work closely with the Director of Business Engagement and AmeriCorps Program Manager to establish and oversee the VITA Program throughout the GoodwillSR territory, ensuring timely submission of all required IRS and program documentation. Certify in tax law for multiple years and complete site coordinator certification.
- Ensure all IRS Quality Site Requirements (QSRs), maintain compliance with program policies and procedures, and ensure staff and volunteers are properly trained, certified, and supported.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions related to tax preparation, completed tax returns, amended returns, and financial services programs
- Handle client concerns and complaints professionally, coordinate resolutions, and maintain thorough documentation to support compliance and quality service standards.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility, accountability, and effective stewardship of grant and program funds.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver financial education workshops throughout the GoodwillSR territory to promote financial literacy and economic self-sufficiency.
- . Lead the development and submission of grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation, and ensure accurate, timely grant reporting and compliance with all funding requirements.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 4+ years of accounting experience, tax knowledge, and tax law training.
- Proficiency in the use of and ability to instruct volunteers and seasonal staff in the use of TaxSlayer (and all TaxSlayer tools and updates)
- Proficiency in the use of and ability to facilitate use by clients of irs.gov, ID.me, and other financial resources available virtually.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
