Shift:Â 10:30AM - 7:00PM ET Mon-Fri

Position Goal:

To obtain necessary information from physicians and patients to schedule elective tests and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Interviews incoming patients prior to date of admission
  • Contact patients prior to scheduled procedures and tests in order to make arrangements for payment.Â
  • Gathers personal information required including emergency notification numbers and insurance information.
  • Assists patient in understanding his/her insurance benefits if such information is available
  • Inputs patient information.
  • Informs patient about necessary consent for treatment and insurance forms.
  • Courteously answers telephone calls. Routes calls or takes accurate messages as is appropriate. Promptly returns voice mail messages.
  • Responsible for making sure that Supervisor has most up to date contact information.
  • Completes ABN’s on all outpatients prior to registration.
  • Checks for all authorizations
  • Takes patients payments
  • Call insurances if needed to verify eligibility prior to procedure

Experience:Â

  • 6 months previous experience in a medical office required.Â
  • Must have working knowledge of tests, procedures, terminology in addition to insurance knowledge.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred

Education:Â High school diploma or equivalent required

Special Qualifications:Â

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and other software packages.Â
  • Excellent typing skills and phone etiquette.Â
  • Must have strong communication skills verbal and non-verbal
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
