Position Goal

The Registered Nurse (RN) performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care for assigned patients. The RN is responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice, which includes managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment, and for promoting collaboration with all members of the health care team.

Position Responsibilities

Patients requiring anesthesia/sedation will have an interview/assessment in advance of the surgery/procedure. Patient evaluation integrates clinically indicated testing, consultative services and patient education. The goal of the preoperative assessment is to optimize the patient for the surgery/procedure.

Assessment and management components include:

• Extensive health history
• Appropriate physical assessment
• Testing/Referrals as indicated
• Patient preferences
• Psychosocial-family status
• Discharge planning
• Preoperative/preprocedural patient teaching
• Development and communication of a plan of care
• Documentation and communication of all pertinent information

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience preferred.

Education: Basic education necessary for Registered Nurse licensure required.

Special Qualifications:Â Current Alabama or Multi-State RN License required or the ability to obtain. BLS required
