Imaging Supervisor Full Time

Shift: 8:30AM - 5:00PM ET
POSITION GOAL
This is a position requiring training in the field of radiology, MRI, and computed tomography reporting to Director Imaging Services. The Imaging Services Supervisor will assume responsibility for the department during the absence of the Director.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative and Resource Management:
- Participates in imaging and organizational policy formation and decision -making
- Assist with maintaining records and reports for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Assumes accountability for all services/care provided in the department in the absence of the director
- Consistently delivers on commitments
- Takes a strategic approach to identifying problems and opportunities and setting priorities.
- Aligns people with the organization’s strategic and operational objectives.
- Assist with determining staffing needs, work methods and performance standards to ensure adequate and appropriate coverage to meet operational needs
- Assumes responsibility for staffing/scheduling personnel reflecting appropriate utilization of personnel according to the flexible staffing model in the absence of the director
- Productivity is consistently at benchmark; any variances are assessed and justified.
- Maintains equipment and resolves problems promptly
- Participate in maintaining adequate stock of supplies at all times and able to place orders for supplies.
- Consistently applies working knowledge pertaining to imaging anatomy and patho-physiology to produce high standard of quality images while under the direction of the radiologist.
- Demonstrate an adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Has expert level knowledge of the PACS System for Diagnostic Imaging areas and can assist as needed.
- Responsible for patient call back surveys and assisting with action plans pursuant to results as warranted. Shares data with staff, physicians and Administration.
- Enters Departmental time using ADP in the absence of the Director.
- Have a working knowledge of RIS and able to correct Imaging reports in the absence of the Imaging Director
Clinical and Staff Development:
- Cultivates a positive work environment
- Recognize when to use protocols and when to alter protocols based on the condition of the patient
- Gives frequent constructive feedback
- Participates in recruitment, selection and retention of personnel.
- Monitors the job performance of each employee and conducts annual performance appraisals with the guidance of the Director.
- Facilitates orientation and in-service training for department staff to promote professional growth.
- Encourages and promotes attendance at internal and external educational programs.
Patient Safety/Quality Improvement:
- Identifies, monitors and documents relevant indicators of quality
- Reports results of performance improvement initiatives as scheduled
- Ensures staff follows IFU’s when cleaning and maintaining equipment
- The duties include and are not limited to performing radiographic examinations, CT, MRI, and assisting radiologists and other physicians during fluoroscopic studies. Also be able to perform minor trouble shooting when necessary.
- Responsible for creating a culture of safety and accountable for ensuring the following patient safety measures are adhered to according to policy, procedure and standards of care: - informed consent - timely communication of patient information - infection prevention - time out - hand washing to prevent infections
- Designs performance improvement projects for department, and ensures completion of the process.
- Uses data to improve patient outcomes and safety
- Shares results of all applicable monitoring with staff
- Seeks out resources to assist in improving patient outcomes and safety May be necessary to participate in rotating call schedule for holidays, weekdays, and weekends. Response time to answer call back is 30 minutes when called; arrival time is 45 minutes from time of call.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
Graduate from an accredited 2 year radiology program or equivalent military program. Must have a minimum of 2 years related Imaging experience and 2 years supervisory or management experience in hospital or imaging center setting preferred.
Education:
Graduate of School of Radiological Technology or equivalent military program.
Special Qualifications:
American Registry of Radiology Technology, BLS required. CT and MRI registry preferred
