Position Goal

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of the Practice Manager and Practice Administrator. LPN performs delegated patient care functions. The work is performed under the established policies and procedures of HMG and within the educational preparation and regulatory requirements for licensure. The LPN will be expected to assess and analyze a given situation and make decisions within the scope of license standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Answers telephones in courteous, professional manner and accurately communicates messages.Â
  • Accurately transcribes orders and inputs into computer/electronically completes order entries.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and fills out purchase orders as needed.
  • Performs faxing and copying duties as needed.
  • Accurately files paperwork. Fills out patient forms as necessary.
  • Courteously and promptly greets patients/visitors
  • Assembles and patient charts; accurately enters patient related data
  • Follows HIPAA security and privacy standards in day to day activity.
  • Obtains patient medical records as necessary.
  • Charting reflects that data is collected and recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains patient records/files appropriately.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment, follows principles of infection control.
  • Reports and processes patient issues, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
  • Accurately collects and enters patient health history
  • Escort patients to triage area; takes vitals upon check in.
  • Phlebotomy duties as required.
  • Facilitates communication in emergency situations.
  • Uses proper BSI procedures, chemical safety and body mechanics.
  • Actively pursues appropriate continuing education and certifications to keep licensure current at all times.
  • Attends and actively participates in unit in-services, patient conferences, and/or workshops annually. Attends departmental staff meetings as required.
  • Applies acquired knowledge in patient care practice.
  • Completes annual/critical competencies (Annual Update) identified for assigned department.
  • Demonstrates awareness of changes and advances in field. Takes responsibility for determining learning needs and seeks out opportunities for such.
  • Performs duties with minimal personnel or patient conflict documented.
  • Initiates problem-solving of interdepartmental issues.
  • Accurate, thorough and timely in reporting patient condition to appropriate medical personnel supervisor (if applicable) and other health care professionals involved in patient care
  • Accurate, thorough and timely in reporting patient condition to physicians
  • Effectively communicates instructions to patients.
  • Utilizes time wisely to revise plans of care, provide for unit equipment organization or maintenance, or other tasks that facilitate unit workflow.
  • Demonstrates enhanced time management skills as evidenced by completion of assignment in a
    timely manner and ability to assist others.
  • Cross trained in other areas as directed.Â

Experience:Â Â

Required:

  • Previous LPN nursing experience

Preferred:

  • ENT experience

Education:

Required:

  • Basic education necessary for Nursing licensure required

Special Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License, satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) and proof of insurance required for position on-boarding.
  • Annual MVR may be required per policy and procedure; background reports may be ran as needed throughout the course of employment.
  • Knowledge of the health care field and medical specialty/medical terminology.
  • Must maintain BLS certification.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Must be able tocommunicate effectively both oral and written.
