Mercer University School of Medicine was established in 1982 to educate physicians and health professionals to meet the primary care and healthcare needs of rural and medically underserved areas of Georgia. Today, a majority of graduates practice in the state of Georgia, and Mercer is a leader in the nation for those who are practicing in rural and medically underserved areas. With three locations, Mercer offers a campus environment for every type of student. The School’s founding campus is located on the historic grounds of Mercer University in Macon. The Savannah campus was established in 2008 and is located on the grounds of Memorial University Medical Center. Columbus began as a clinical campus in 2012 and opened a new four-year campus in 2021.
