This posting is to recruit for existing vacancies and/or positions that become available at our various schools.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Library Media Specialist (LMS) develops and manages a program that supports instructional goals, fosters a culture of reading, and ensures equitable access to high-quality resources and technologies. The LMS collaborates closely with educators to enhance teaching and learning through information, media, and digital literacy instruction while maintaining a vibrant, inclusive, and data-informed collection.

| 1. Educational Level: | Master's degree in job related field |
| 2. Certification/License: | Valid Georgia Teacher certification or eligibility for GA certification in Media Specialist (School Librarian) |
| 3. Experience: | Job related experience is desired. |
| 4. Physical Activities: | Must be able to move throughtout the library and school building; lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds; push/pull book carts; bend, reach, and shelve materials; and actively manage students. |

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Instructional Collaboration & Support
- Integrates information literacy, digital citizenship, research skills, and technology into instruction.
- Collaborates with teachers to support the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE)
- Curates instructional resources and digital tools.
Collection Development & Management
- Follows district library policies to maintain a diverse, age-appropriate collection.
- Uses data for purchasing decisions.
- Conducts weeding, repairs, inventory, and OPAC updates.
Library Program Services
- Leads student-centered programs and community partnerships.
- Promotes intellectual freedom and open inquiry.
- Manages library scheduling and provides instructional/technical support.
Culture of Reading & Patron Engagement
- Promotes independent reading and supports school literacy initiatives.
- Teaches students to locate and borrow materials independently.
- Uses patron input to guide programs, services, and materials.
- Maintains a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Operational Duties
- Maintains a safe, organized, accessible library space.
- Participates in professional learning.
- Leads the library committee and supervises any staff/volunteers.
- Manages provided budget and financial documentation.
- Collaborates with various school and district departments.
- Shares program data with stakeholders.
- Sets annual goals with administrators.
- Communicates clearly in all formats.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
