POSITION TITLE: Art Teacher - Middle Grades FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: Teacher Salary Schedule WORK DAYS: 190
LOCATION: To Be Determined REPORTS TO: Principal

This posting is to recruit for existing vacancies and/or positions that become available at our various schools.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides art instruction to students and emphasizes the importance of art work through quality exhibitions.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Educational Level: Bachelor’s degree in art education, fine arts, visual arts, or related field.
2. Certification/License: Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Art Education certification (preferred) or eligibility, including passage of GACE Art assessment and adherence to GaPSC renewal requirements.
3. Experience: None
4. Physical Activities: Ability to actively manage students, maintain a visible presence throughout classroom and school activities, move as needed to supervise and support, handle art supplies, and demonstrate techniques.
5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Strong written and oral communication.

Technical communication proficiency, including email, online learning platforms, and other digital tools.

Instructional strategies that engage diverse learners.

Effective classroom management.

Understanding of Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for Visual Arts.

Commitment to the Process of Creation through GSE Anchor Standards: Creating, Presenting, Responding, Connecting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Fine Arts Department Goal: Expand holistic, standards-based arts opportunities for all students, emphasizing artistic processes through the Process of Creation. This promotes academic achievement via interdisciplinary connections, alongside social-emotional growth, self-expression, and creativity.

Maintain active GaPSC Art Education certification and align all instruction with GSE for Visual Arts, integrating Creating, Presenting, Responding, and Connecting.

Foster a positive classroom environment; deliver differentiated art experiences for all levels: elementary, middle, and high school; communicate student progress to parents; and assess against GSE objectives.

Demonstrate consistent attendance, comply with all policies and procedures, meet certification and accreditation standards, fulfill adapted general teacher responsibilities, pursue professional development, and perform additional duties as assigned.
