REPORTS TO:

Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The job of Attendance Intervention Specialist was developed to work with teachers, administrators, the Family Services Coordinator, the School Social Worker, and parents to improve student attendance and decrease tardiness.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Educational Level:

Minimum 60 semester/100 quarter hours of eligible college hours OR passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment Test required.

2. Certification/License:

Hired candidate must maintain Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate

3. Experience:

None

4. Physical Activities:

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Written and oral communication

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

2.

Formulate an action plan for the purpose of improving attendance and punctual arrival at school

3.

Contacting parents when students are absent each day

4.

Make home visits when a student has been out more than one day

5.

Schedule conferences with parents of children that are chronically tardy and/or absent for the purpose of emphasizing ways to support student attendance, providing feedback, and addressing concerns related to student attendance

6.

Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
