REPORTS TO:

Senior Director of CTAE, STEAM & Robotics

Primary Function: The Technology Education Program Specialist is responsible for the strategic leadership, coordination, and implementation of district-wide robotics and emerging technology initiatives. This position oversees all K–12 robotics programs, including FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition. The role ensures program fidelity, alignment to district goals, and high-quality implementation across all participating schools. In addition, the Technology Program Manager administers the Computer Science initiatives, such as the Amazon Future Engineer program, in elementary and middle schools, oversees AI4GA implementation in middle schools, plans and hosts district and regional robotics competitions, and provides direct supervision to assigned instructional staff at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center. This position serves as a key liaison between schools, community partners, postsecondary institutions, and industry to expand student access to high-quality STEM, robotics, and artificial intelligence learning experiences.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Educational Level:

Master’s degree in job-related area.

2. Certifications/Licenses:

Valid Georgia certification in Leadership; Valid driver’s license

3. Experience:

At least five years of job-related experience within specialized field is required; experience with FIRST Robotics program (FLL, FTC, and/or FTC) is preferred; experience managing grants, partnerships, or externally-funded programs is preferred; supervisory or program management experience is preferred.

5. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: strong event planning and project management skills; Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; applying time management skills, supervising, scheduling, computer skills.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform advanced math; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: understanding of K–12 robotics and STEM education pathways; age-appropriate activities, school district policies pertaining to students and employees.

ABILITY is required to schedule and manage multiple large-scale programs simultaneously; Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community partners; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities, maintaining confidentiality, communicating with diverse groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Ensure compliance with FIRST program requirements and provide district-wide leadership and oversight for all robotics programs: FIRST Lego League Explore, FIRST Lego League Challenge, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition.

2.

Develop, implement, and monitor annual programs of work for robotics coaches and sponsors.

3.

Coordinate registration, purchasing, budgeting, and inventory management for robotics equipment and materials.

4.

Plan, organize, and host district, regional, and invitational robotics competitions and showcases to include coordinating venues, volunteers, judges, field setup, schedules, logistics, and safety plans.

5.

Ensure events reflect district standards for student engagement, equity, and professionalism.

6.

Manage implementation of the Amazon Future Engineer program in elementary and middle schools to include coordinating teacher training, curriculum resources, and program

7.

Attend regular meetings to collaborate and oversee implementation of AI4GA in middle schools, including supporting teachers with curriculum integration, instructional resources, and professional learning.

8.

Collaborate with district leadership on emerging AI initiatives and responsible AI practices.

9.

Directly supervise one (1) full-time staff member and one (1) 49% Teacher on Assignment assigned to the Coca-Cola Space Science Center by conducting performance evaluations, provide coaching and feedback, and support professional growth.

10.

Build and maintain partnerships with business, industry, higher education, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders.

11.

Support grant development, sponsorships, and external funding opportunities related to robotics, STEM, and AI initiatives.

12.

Serve as the district point of contact and represent the district at local, regional, and state STEM and robotics meetings and events.

13.

Collect and analyze participation, performance, and program outcome data.

14.

Prepare reports for district leadership, grants, and external partners.

15.

Perform other duties as assigned to support district STEM, CTAE, and innovation initiatives.

16.

Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.

17.

Frequent travel between schools and district sites.

18.

Evening and weekend work required during robotics competitions and events.

19.

Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit.
