MCSD SURROGATE PARENT

Application submission requirement:

Must have attended the

MSCD SURROGATE INTEREST MEETING

on September 18, 2026.

• If attended, please complete the application.
• If you did not attend, you will need to attend an upcoming meeting in order to be eligible to apply. (INTEREST MEETINGS WILL BE OFFERED QUARTERLY AND NOTED ON THE MCSD WEBSITE.)

During the interest meeting, we will provide additional information regarding the Surrogate Parent role, responsibilities, eligibility requirements, and the next steps in the selection and approval process.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Not have a conflict of interest with the student. Any potential conflict of interest will be reviewed and determined at the time a student is assigned, if you are selected to serve.
• Not be an employee of the local school system.
• Not be employed by another agency involved in the education of the student.
• Not be employed by an agency responsible for the care of the student when such employment would create a conflict of interest.
• Successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Be willing and able to participate fully in the student’s educational process and advocate for the student’s educational rights and needs.
• MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION (Surrogate Interest Meeting attendance required prior to completing the online application.)

Attendance at the interest meeting does not constitute final selection as an MCSD Surrogate Parent; rather, it is an opportunity to learn more about the role and proceed with the next steps, if eligible.
