Position Summary
The Cardiac Stress Test Technician supports physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced cardiology practice, with a focus on patient preparation, clinical workflow, and assisting with cardiac stress testing. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with clinical and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Room patients and prepare them for examination, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation
- Perform EKGs and other basic diagnostic testing as directed
- Assist providers during patient visits, procedures, and exams
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
Cardiac Stress Testing
- Prepare patients for treadmill and pharmacologic stress tests, including explanation of procedure and obtaining consent as appropriate
- Place electrodes and ensure proper lead placement for accurate monitoring
- Monitor patients throughout stress testing for symptoms, vital sign changes, and EKG abnormalities
- Assist the provider or supervising clinical staff during the test and respond appropriately to patient needs
- Ensure proper documentation of test start/end times, patient tolerance, and any notable findings
- Clean and reset equipment and rooms between patients
Workflow & Operations
- Maintain efficient patient flow by coordinating rooming, triage, and testing activities
- Ensure patients are assigned to correct rooms and statuses in the EMR prior to care delivery
- Communicate effectively with providers, nurses, and other team members regarding patient status and needs
- Adhere to clinic scheduling expectations and support high-volume operations
Patient Experience
- Provide professional, respectful, and efficient patient interactions
- Limit non-clinical conversations to maintain focus on timely patient care
- Educate patients on testing procedures and answer basic questions within scope
Compliance & Safety
- Follow infection control, safety, and OSHA guidelines
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
- Adhere to attendance, punctuality, and organizational policies
Qualifications
Required (one of the below)
- Paramedic/EMT or similar
- Exercise Science graduates
- Cardiovascular Technologists/Technicians
- Respiratory Therapists
Preferred
- Prior experience in cardiology or vascular practice
- Experience assisting with cardiac stress testing (treadmill and/or pharmacologic)
- Familiarity with EMR systems (athenaOne preferred)

Work Environment
- High-volume outpatient cardiology clinic
- Frequent standing, walking, and patient interaction
- Exposure to clinical equipment and patient care environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to assist patients safely (including mobility support if needed)
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Pay: $21.05 - $31.15 per hour
