Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Server Team Technical Lead committed to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to maintain a robust server infrastructure to join our dynamic team. As a Server Team Technical Lead, you will oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of our cloud-based and on-premises server environments. Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team managing 70+ virtual servers on Windows Server 2019 and 2022 in Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure.
  • Deploy and maintain cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring diverse technology endpoints' operational efficiency.
  • Develop and execute strategies for efficient server operations, optimizing performance and resource utilization.
  • Oversee server setup, configuration, and troubleshooting to maintain high availability and reliability across all environments.
  • Implement security best practices, ensuring NIST standards compliance to safeguard server assets and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless application deployments, updates, and integrations into server infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular performance monitoring and capacity planning to anticipate and address future infrastructure needs.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and foster continuous learning within the server team.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts, ensuring adherence to SLAs related to server infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on server configurations, processes, and procedures per NIH EPLC guidelines.
  • Reduce processing time for configuring new servers and deploying cloud-based technologies, enhancing operational agility.
  • Minimize development time for secure system images across servers, desktops, and laptops to expedite deployments and updates.
  • Ensure 24/7 operational status of cloud-based and on-premises virtual servers and associated software systems, except during scheduled maintenance.
  • Install, configure, and manage complex server-based applications (MS SQL, .NET, RStudio, Python, SharePoint, SAP BI, Tableau, Azure DevOps server).
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation and testing protocols for cloud-based and on-premises server setups, configurations, and operations, including security enhancements and issue escalation procedures.
  • Maintain updated records of network diagrams, server details, and connectivity information for all IRMB systems hosted in Azure Cloud and on-premises servers.
  • Implement AI-driven tools for proactive server monitoring and management, enhancing performance and preventing downtime.
  • Manage cloud-based and on-premises servers, PCs, and mobile devices with a security-first approach, integrating NIST-compliant best practices.
  • Document design, operations, configurations, setup procedures, and administrative tasks for server applications following EPLC processes.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in server infrastructure management, including virtualized environments and cloud platforms.
  • Certified Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Practitioner
  • Demonstrated expertise and certifications in Microsoft Azure, particularly in managing and optimizing Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficiency and certifications in Windows Server 2019 and 2022, including deployment, configuration, and administration.
  • Certification in VMware technologies, showcasing skills in managing VMware clusters and virtualized environments.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of server applications including MS SQL Server, Linux (Red Hat), MS SharePoint, Azure DevOps Server, .Net Development Framework, Python, RStudio, SAP Business Objects, Tableau, HCL BigFix, Trellix, Subject 7, SafeGuard, Paessler: PRTG, Veeam
  • Ability to strategize and execute plans for migrating services from on-premises servers to cloud-based platforms like Microsoft Azure, while managing decommissioning processes effectively.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards, particularly NIST guidelines, for securing server infrastructure and data integrity.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation related to server configurations, operational procedures, and compliance with NIH EPLC guidelines.
