ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the direction of the Production Supervisor and more skilled Production Operators/Technicians, operates press machines, robot press lines, or welding machines producing precision stamped metal components. Assists in equipment set up and changeovers; performs troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- High school diploma or GED- Some experience as a machine operator- Ability to perform basic functions on a computer- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculationsPreferred- One or more years as a machine operator- Two or more years of progressive production experience in press operations DUTIESMachinery- Produces precision stamped metal parts, free from defects, using automated press line(s) and manual presses- Maintains dies in production area; visually inspects for defects; makes minor adjustments under supervision- Ensures packing labels are correct and applied properly- Assists stacking parts and loading into feeder- Assists with setups (robotic arms, tables)- Compares first and last piece; verifies features/visual dimension- Inspects parts against product specificationsFinishing/Inspection- Inspects/re-packs parts to ensure all specified processes completed; performs additional cleaning/brushing per guidelines- Checks critical dimensions using jig/fixture/pin gage/other tools; reworks defective parts within capabilities- Operates presses/other machines to rework/repair parts; may brush/grind to remove slivers; inspects for accuracyOther Duties- Verifies starting parts with process check sheet and ERP system- Assembles parts per packing standards; counts/weighs for accurate quantities and labeling- Disposes of scrap per policies- Alerts supervisor/appropriate department of product issues- Organizes tools/parts; cleans work area- Maintains daily documentation; inputs minimal data into ERP system; maintains inspection documentation- Informs area leader of corrective actions needed; trains under guidance toward Production Operator skills SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES- None TRAINING REQUIREMENTS- None QUALITY STANDARDS- Knowledge of quality, environmental, and company policies/procedures; ensure products meet requirements PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Standing or sitting on hard surface for extended periods; continual arm/hand movement; standing, stooping, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs; reading and computer work; vision minimum 20/40 (with/without correction) PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT- Safety shoes, glasses, ear plugs, and gloves in production areas including die shop and warehouse WORK ENVIRONMENT- Semi-temperature-controlled plant; loud noises from presses; dusty, dirty, greasy; exposure to sharp edges and chemicals in oil This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities.
