ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the direction of the Production Supervisor and more skilled Production Operators and Technicians, operates press machines, robot press lines, or welding machines to produce precision stamped metal components. Assists in equipment set up and changeovers. Performs troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- High school diploma or GED- Some experience as a machine operator- Ability to perform basic computer functions and basic mathematical calculationsPreferred- One or more years of experience as a machine operator- Two or more years of progressive production experience in press operations DUTIESMachinery- Produces precision stamped metal parts using automated press lines and manual presses- Maintains dies in production; minor adjustments under supervision- Ensures packing labels are correct; assists in stacking/loading parts; assists with production area setups (robotic arms, tables)- Ensures first and last piece comparison meets visual dimensions; inspects parts per specificationsFinishing/Inspection- Inspects/repacks parts to ensure processes completed; performs additional cleaning/brushing as specified- Checks critical dimensions using jigs/fixtures/gauges; reworks defective parts within capabilities- Operates presses/other machines to rework/repair parts as instructed; brushes/grinds to remove slivers; inspects for accuracyOther Duties- Verifies starting parts with process check sheet and ERP system- Assembles/labels/counts parts per packing standards- Disposes of scrap per policies; alerts supervisor of product issues- Organizes tools/parts; cleans work area; maintains daily documentation; inputs minimal data into ERP; submits inspection documentation; informs area leader of needed corrective actions- Trains under higher-level production staff in Production Operator skills SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES- None TRAINING REQUIREMENTS- None QUALITY STANDARDS- Knowledge of quality, environmental, and company policies and procedures; ensures products meet established requirements PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Standing or sitting on hard surface for extended periods; continual movement of arms/hands; stooping, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs; reading/computer work; vision minimum 20/40 (with or without correction) PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT- Safety shoes, glasses, ear plugs, and gloves in production area, including die shop and warehouse WORK ENVIRONMENT- Semi-temperature-controlled plant with loud noises from presses; work will be dusty, dirty, greasy; exposure to sharp edges and oils This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
