Strategic Defense Solutions is seeking an Associate Director of Systems Engineering to lead the systems engineering organization supporting the Battle Management, Command and Control, & Networking (BMC2&N) Portfolio. In this role, you will build, develop, and empower a multi-level team of systems engineering leaders, ensuring the right talent, structure, and culture are in place to deliver complex, mission-critical capabilities across the BMC2&N portfolio.
We are seeking a people-centered, execution-focused leader with a strong systems engineering foundation and a proven record of growing teams, developing leaders, and aligning organizations to program priorities. This position offers end-to-end leadership responsibility across the development lifecycle, with a unique opportunity to shape the systems engineering organization, strengthen capability depth, and drive sustained performance in direct support of national defense.
What You Will Do:
Build, lead, and develop a multi-level systems engineering organization supporting the SAOC program
Mentor and grow systems engineering managers and technical leads; establish clear expectations, accountability, and succession plans
Partner with program, engineering, and functional leadership to align staffing, skills, and capacity to program demand
Establish and reinforce disciplined systems engineering practices, processes, and standards across the portfolio
Drive workforce planning, hiring strategy, onboarding, and talent development to ensure long-term organizational health
Provide leadership oversight for execution across the full development lifecycle, ensuring commitments are met on cost, schedule, and performance
Foster a culture of technical rigor, collaboration, and continuous improvement in support of mission-critical delivery
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes and integration within large, complex programs
Minimum of 5+ years experience leading engineering teams of 20+ employees , including mentoring, task delegation, and cross-functional collaboration in a technical development environment.
Minimum of 5+ years experience in program execution, including bidding, project planning, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk and opportunity management.

Qualifications We Prefer:
Previous experience leading teams in BMC2&N
Experience leading systems engineering teams
Hands on experience in communication or RF products
Experience and demonstrated competence in technical leadership (project engineer or other technical lead) for large complex programs
Background in workforce planning, hiring strategy, and organizational scaling
Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and practices

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
