What You Will Do

The Associate Director – Business Partner Data Governance leads the strategy, governance, and operational enablement of Customer and Vendor master data within the SAP S/4HANA transformation. This role ensures a standardized, high-quality Business Partner (BP) data foundation by owning the data model, enabling governance, and driving adoption of SAP MDG and operational processes across the enterprise.

1. Data Model & Standards Ownership

  • Own and sustain the Customer & Vendor Common Information Model (CIM) aligned to S/4HANA Business Partner

  • Define global standards for attributes, hierarchies, and lifecycle management

  • Establish and govern Business Partner hierarchies (legal, operational, parent-child structures)

  • Ensure alignment with downstream systems (Finance, Procurement, Analytics platforms such as Snowflake/BW)

2. Governance Framework & Operating Model

  • Establish and run the Business Partner governance model, including councils, policies, and decision rights

  • Define roles (Data Owners, Stewards, Custodians) and RACI across Business Units, Procurement, Finance, and DT

  • Drive governance cadence, issue resolution, and escalation processes

3. Master Data Operations (MDO) Enablement

  • Partner with Enterprise Business Services (EBS) to stand up and scale a Master Data Operations 'factory'

  • Define intake, workflow, and exception management processes for BP create/update/extend

  • Establish clear separation of governance (policy) and operations (execution)

4. SAP MDG Platform Leadership

  • Own business requirements and roadmap for SAP MDG (Business Partner domain)

  • Define data models, validations, workflows, and integrations with S/4HANA

  • Ensure scalable, compliant design in partnership with DT

  • Drive fit-to-standard adoption while enabling required business flexibility

5. Adoption & Change Management

  • Drive enterprise adoption of MDG and governance processes across Business Units and Procurement

  • Lead stakeholder engagement, training, and change management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders to enforce governance discipline

6. Data Quality & Performance Management

  • Define and manage data quality framework, KPIs, and dashboards

  • Establish and monitor SLAs for BP data creation, updates, and issue resolution

  • Drive continuous improvement based on data insights

7. Data Migration & Transformation Support

  • Define data standards and validation rules for S/4HANA migration

  • Partner with Data Migration teams on cleansing, harmonization, and readiness

  • Act as governance authority for Business Partner data during transformation

8. Risk, Compliance & Data Access

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, financial, and audit requirements

  • Embed controls within MDG workflows

  • Enable attribute-based access control (ABAC) aligned to BP data attributes and classification requirements

  • Partner with Security and Global Trade on sensitive data handling

9. Data Enablement & Analytics

  • Enable Customer 360 / Supplier 360 use cases through standardized BP data

  • Ensure Business Partner data is optimized for analytics consumption in Snowflake, BW, and reporting platforms

  • Drive consistency between operational and analytical data models

10. Continuous Improvement & Strategy

  • Define and execute the MDM maturity roadmap for Business Partner data

  • Identify automation opportunities (e.g., duplicate detection, rule-based enrichment)

  • Benchmark and evolve governance practices


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience

  • 10 years experience in Data Management, MDM, or ERP programs with expertise in SAP S/4HANA Business Partner Model

  • Experience with Customer and Vendor master data harmonization, data migration and data cleansing activities.

  • Experience leading cross-functional transformational initiatives while influencing executives and stakeholders

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Familiarity with data quality/governance tools (e.g., Informatica, Syniti)

  • Experience in Aerospace & Defense or regulated industries

  • Experience with shared services / EBS operating models

Role Type: Remote

This position is currently designated as remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
