About the Role:

The Housekeeping position is dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for Residents. This role ensures that all residential, healthcare and common areas meet high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, contributing to the overall comfort and satisfaction of residents. The successful candidate will perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing surfaces, and managing waste disposal, while adhering to health and safety regulations. Attention to detail and a proactive approach are essential to identify and address maintenance or cleanliness issues promptly. Ultimately, this role supports the well-being and quality of life of residents by fostering a pleasant and orderly living environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial services preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
    • Must be able to lift and/or carry objects in excess of 50 pounds
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and ability to follow safety instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School education or GED preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in senior living or residential community environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of resident apartments, common areas, healthcare floor and community facilities to ensure a hygienic and orderly environment.
  • Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum floors, and clean windows, furniture, and fixtures according to established standards.
  • Sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, and other high-touch areas to prevent the spread of germs and maintain health safety protocols.
  • Manage waste collection and disposal in compliance with environmental and community guidelines.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the management team promptly.
  • Assist with setting up rooms for events or activities as needed to support community engagement.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Keeps all housekeeping storage facilities in a clean, organized manner.
  • Attends all scheduled in-services and meetings.
  • Informs the Housekeeping Supervisor or Director of any problems or concerns related to the department.

Work Environment

  • Works in clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated commons building, laundry facilities and residential units. May work in cramped quarters, climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, pushing and reaching, inside and outside of buildings and equipment in various weather conditions

  • May be exposed to outside elements when traveling between main building and garden villas in golf carts or another vehicle. Work environment involves slight physical risks that includes exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., that require following basic safety precautions (wearing safety glasses, rubber gloves, back belts, etc.)”. While in-service training regarding the protection from communicable disease will be provided, there will continue to be risk of contracting some type of disease or illness. To the extent the employee complies with precautionary measures this risk is reduced

Knowledge and Skills:

The required skills enable the housekeeping professional to efficiently execute cleaning tasks while ensuring safety and quality standards are met daily. Attention to detail is critical for identifying areas that require special care or immediate attention, which helps maintain a consistently clean environment. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are necessary to handle the physical demands of the role, such as lifting and prolonged standing. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of infection control and effective communication, enhance the ability to work safely and collaboratively with residents and colleagues. Together, these skills ensure that the housekeeping team contributes positively to the residents' comfort and the community's overall well-being.
