About the Role:
The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in primarily responsible for assisting in the development, organization, coordination and implementation of comprehensive services and programs which enrich the lives of each resident. He/she shall assist the Director in areas of resident and staff relations and will be responsible for implementing and supervising programs and activities for residents in the Healthcare Facilities. The assistant collaborates closely with the Activities Assistant team to implement activities that encourage participation, foster independence, and support cognitive and physical health. By creating a positive and inclusive environment, the role contributes to residents' overall satisfaction and sense of community. Ultimately, the Activities Assistant helps to enrich daily living experiences and supports the mission of providing compassionate, person-centered care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities in a recreational or therapeutic setting.
- Basic knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a team.
- Position requires a minimum of one year experience in activity planning, preferably in a health care environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point
- Must have current state Driver’s license and clean driving record as this position will involve occasional use of company vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant(CNA)
- Previous experience in an assisted living or long-term care environment.
- Training in CPR and First Aid.
- Familiarity with adaptive recreational equipment and techniques.

Mental & Physical Requirements
- Requires ability to stand and walk short and long distances for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, squat and kneel.
- Must be able to push or pull objects in excess of 50 pounds.
- Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level.
- Work will be performed both in indoor and outdoor environments, around and off the grounds of the facility with varying sound, lighting and temperature conditions.
- Work area may be subject to noise, distractions and interruptions.
- Works closely with others as well as alone.

The Activities Assistant utilizes strong communication skills daily to engage residents effectively and foster a supportive atmosphere. Organizational skills are essential for planning and executing diverse activities that meet individual and group needs. Additionally, problem-solving abilities help adapt activities in real-time to accommodate varying resident responses and preferences, enhancing overall participation and satisfaction.
