ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides skillful pastoral listening, empathic emotional support, and patient sensitive prayers in the context of illness and crisis
- Utilizes effective spiritual assessment and sound pastoral counseling principles in offering pastoral care and inworking with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Demonstrates pastoral knowledge and skill in providing brief pastoral care and counseling to patients, families, and staff members at SFH, The Bradley Center of St. Francis, and other clinical placements as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Master's Degree - Required
- Graduate of an approved program in Theology or Divinity or comparable theological degree - Required
- Minimum of two (2) units of clinical pastoral education (CPE) - Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of pastoral experience in a parish- based or healthcare setting OR equivalent clinical training relevant to offering religious/spiritual ministry in a health care setting
- Must be available for participate in the on-call rotation on a regular basis, as determined by department needs
Required Skills
- Ability to be open and sensitive to cultural and religious diversity
- Ability to relate to medical and other patient care staff, as well as religious leaders in the community
- Ability to offer emotional and spiritual support to patients, families, and staff members in a high level of stressful and emotionally charged situations
- Endorsed by or eligible to be endorsed for ministry by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC)Preferred
