Job Summary
- Support therapists and therapist assistants in the treatment of inpatients and outpatients
- Assists secretaries and the department staff in performing administrative support and general office duties
- Possess appropriate education, experience, and training to assure competency as delineated in the “Age Specific Competence Assessment”
- Responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services
- Provides material supply services for a variety of departments as required
Essential Functions
- Performs administrative and receptionist functions including screening calls and visitors, messages, scheduling appointments, registering patients, and collecting appropriate personal and financial data
- Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment
- Transports patient to/from rehabilitation department
- Performs minor dressing changes under the direction of a physical therapists and/or physical therapy assistant
- Communicates pertinent clinical information to the licensed therapist (PT, OT, ST or therapist assistant) responsible for the patient
- Assists director, clinical coordinator, and his/her designates in activities and initiatives that will enable department and hospital to meet its goals and objectives
- Participates in the hospitals and department’s CQI activities; assists in developing and maintaining compliance with standards established by accrediting agencies
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent - Preferred
Licenses/Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Preferred
Experience
- Previous experience in patient care - Preferred
