Performs a wide variety of complex data analytics and financial modeling to support the overall business development strategies of the Structured Lending Division, Atlanta team ("SLD-Atl"). These include syndicated and bilateral lending, capital markets, treasury management, and other lending services and structured credit products. Partners closely with senior management and the directors and managing director to attract, retain, and acquire new or expanded client relationships. Responsible for driving pitch origination and managing deal execution with directors and managing director and overseeing and training junior analysts. Assists in day-to-day industry team and broader Specialty Finance Division operations and special projects, as needed. Supports the management and mentoring of junior team members, particularly our analyst teams across the division.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with senior management and SLD managing director/directors, helps develop and support the execution of effective strategies to originate and execute a wide variety of lending, private capital, and structured lending mandates across myriad asset classes. This includes the review and/or preparation of detailed financial models, pitches, offering memoranda, and other presentations.
- Performs financial statement modeling, indicative transaction structuring, pricing guidance and data analytics to support new business development strategies. Prepares talking points and explanations for utilization during calling efforts, and leads underwriting and financial modeling efforts for new structured lending deals.
- Supports the efforts of cross-functional deal teams, including underwriters, junior analysts, and portfolio managers, surveillance, and responsible for providing financial and statistical data to determine and support customer credit worthiness and transaction viability.
- Helps ensure all transactions and processes are in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains a high standard of integrity, ethics, and compliance. Identifies opportunities and takes action to enhance compliance within own organization. Promotes reputation and social responsibility; seeks and maintains external relationships and alliances, strengthening the company's impact on and reputation in the community and the industry. Represents Synovus in a positive and professional manner, and enhances brand through marketing and networking.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
- Three years of experience related asset-based lending, structured finance, or securitization experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of ABL/CLO/Middle Market asset classes and structures, including, without limitation, market advance rates, concentrations, and modeling.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including Excel modeling
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Advanced ability to understand the core competencies of a business and recognize deviation from those principals or historical transaction structures
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to gather information and provide appropriate solutions
