Description:

This role will work with cross functional teams in multiple areas including security logging, application logging, and intelligent alerting. In addition to design and consulting duties, this role will be expected to solve technical monitoring problems which involve large scale inter-disciplinary objectives with multiple, heterogeneous, distributed and/or mainframe systems that are embedded in networks at multiple levels.

This position will also be handling the implementation of ITSI as our event management platform. This position will consult with internal teams to establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and alerting. Alerting will be built for reactive and proactive responses. This position will handle new strategic project workload, business as usual (BAU) tasks, and production support activities.

Example Duties and Expectations of this role include:

  • Install, Configure and Maintain Splunk’s core Splunk Enterprise software and premium applications such as Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) or Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI)

  • Work closely with internal Information Security teams, to ensure Security use cases are met.

  • Develop Splunk apps and add-ons using Simple XML dashboard visualizations, field extractions, Splunk props and transform commands or Splunk Processing Language (SPL) or other scripting languages as needed.

  • Configure Splunk props and transforms to parse, filter or mask data as that data is integrated between non-Splunk source systems and the Splunk data stores (indexers).

  • Develop complex queries, alerts, reports, and dashboards using Splunk’s proprietary SPL language.

  • Integrate multiple data streams, onboard new data sources, and feeds from networks, infrastructure services, and business applications into a near, real-time dashboard for use in troubleshooting and capturing baseline performance deviations or highlighting key trends in data

  • Perform Splunk technical assessments (environmental health checks) and advise on best practices for optimized application and platform performance.

  • Work with internal stakeholders to implement logging and monitoring use cases within best practice frameworks.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (C.S.) or Related Field

  • Strong Splunk Administration/Programming Experience

  • Strong Problem Solving Experience in an Enterprise Operations Environment.

  • Functional Understanding of Linux Operating Systems


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in IT or Related Field

  • Current Splunk Certifications

  • Strong Experience with Splunk Advanced Applications (Example: ITSI, ES, and SOAR)


Desired Skills & Capabilities:

  • Functional Knowledge of a Scripting Language (Example: Perl, Python, Powershell)

  • Foundational Understanding of Cloud (AWS) Technologies

  • Understanding of IaC Technologies (Example: Terraform, Cloudformation)
