The Assistant/Associate Professor position in Early Childhood Education is responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate early childhood education and other related education courses as needed; developing knowledge and skills related to effective teaching in these areas; evaluating students relative to CAEP and Alabama Department of Education standards; guiding related field experiences; supervising clinical experiences; working with pre-service candidates/in-service teachers in public school settings; advising education majors; participating in service activities; production of scholarly work; collaboration with local districts and agencies serving culturally and economically diverse children; collaboration with faculty in assessment, recruitment and retention activities and curriculum planning; and academic advisement. This position also requires routine engagement with the Coleman Center on the Dothan campus, with consistent efforts made to develop ongoing research activities involving opportunities with the Coleman Center.

Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses utilizing on-line, on campus, or blended formats. Responsibilities are commensurate with rank in accordance with the Faculty Handbook in the areas of teaching, service and scholarship.

1. Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Early Childhood Education, with a major specialization of at least 30 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education (consideration will be given to candidates with ABD status)
2. Minimum of three years of successful P-3 teaching experience

1. Experience teaching at the college level
2. Current Professional Educator Certificate
3. Recent P-6 teaching experience in the United States
4. Knowledge of Alabama educational initiatives such as the Alabama Literacy Act, and the Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative.
5. Experience integrating technology in teaching
6. Knowledge of CAEP accreditation expectations

7. Knowledge of the edTPA for ECE
8. Experience in coordination and supervision of clinical field experiences
9. Established record of scholarly work and active participation in professional organizations
10. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education
