Troy University is seeking an energetic, dynamic, choral music education professional to join the John M. Long School of Music faculty. The School of Music is a vital part of a dynamic, global university. Music education is at the heart of the School of Music’s mission. The successful candidate will have a strong background in choral music education with a documented record of outstanding teaching and choral ensemble conducting.

Responsibilities include: Conduct selected undergraduate choral ensembles; teach music education methods courses (choral emphasis); assist in overseeing the music education program (planning, assessment, and development) working in collaboration with faculty colleagues and School of Music administration; assist with advising for music education majors; assist with the supervision of music education interns; contribute to undergraduate and graduate recruiting and retention; maintain an active regional/national professional presence and creative activity profile consistent with the expectations of tenure and promotion; participate in shared governance through service to the School, College, and University. Additional teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on departmental needs and candidate qualifications.

Following preliminary review, select candidates will be asked to submit recorded examples of rehearsal and performance.

The start date for the position is August 1, 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

1. Doctorate in Music Education or related field (completed or in progress). Note: Completed doctorate will be required for tenure.

2. Three years of experience teaching in K-12 public schools.

1. Documented excellence in choral ensemble and classroom teaching at the undergraduate level.

2. Demonstrated ability to work with public school teachers/students.

3. Demonstrated ability and interest in working in a collegial and mutually supportive environment.

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility.
5. Engage in scholarly/creative activities leading to national visibility and contributing to a university vision of internationalization and interdisciplinary collaboration.
