Job Summary
Troy University’s Department of Art & Design invites applications for a 10-month, non-tenure track, Lecturer position specializing in Illustration, Graphic Design, and Printmaking. We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator who is committed to high-quality teaching, contemporary creative practice, and fostering a collaborative learning environment. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate programs by teaching foundational and advanced courses across the studio art and design curriculum.

This Lecturer position in the Department of Art and Design at Troy University plays a vital role in delivering foundational visual art coursework to both majors and non-majors. It provides instruction across traditional studio practices, digital media, mixed-media, and design, teaching core classes that build students’ visual literacy, technical proficiency, and creative problem-solving skills. This position candidate will enrich the curriculum with practical knowledge and contemporary perspectives and contribute significantly to departmental initiatives, student mentorship, and community engagement through exhibitions, collaborative projects, and participation in campus arts programming. This position also requires strong teaching abilities, curriculum support, and a sustained commitment to fostering student success within the art and design program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MFA in Illustration, Graphic Design, Printmaking, Drawing, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and teaching experience in at least three of the four areas: illustration, graphic design, printmaking, drawing.
  • Evidence of an active creative practice or professional experience relevant to the position.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and contemporary digital workflows in graphic design and illustration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College-level teaching experience beyond graduate assistantships.
  • Experience with traditional and experimental printmaking processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor students, support interdisciplinary practice, or contribute to collaborative projects.
  • Ability to engage with community partners, exhibitions, and program outreach efforts.
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility
