| Job Summary | The Coordinator of Special Populations position in ACCESS is responsible for: 1. Supervises ACCESS teachers to ensure students with IEP/504/EL plans are being accommodated 2. Schedules and executes training for ACCESS teachers regarding documentation and making accommodations in ACCESS Schoology courses 3. Assists in the recruiting and training of ACCESS teachers, in addition to training for administrators, counselors, and facilitators 4. Liaison with the Alabama State Department of Education and support center partners in reference to the ACCESS Distance Learning program 5. Attends necessary meetings with the Alabama State Department of Education and support center partners in reference to the ACCESS Distance Learning initiative 6. Knowledge and understanding of the school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA), 504, and EL plans 7. Recommends and coordinates appropriate staff development activities 8. Assists in the planning and delivery of training events for regional ACCESS staff 9. Assists in resolving ACCESS Distance Learning student discipline issues 10. Prepares state reports and plans as assigned 11. Works cooperatively with others 12. Addresses the needs of parents and students related to assigned areas 13. Demonstrates professional ethics and confidentiality 14. Attends professional meetings, writes reports, and maintains records |
| Minimum Qualifications | 1. Valid Alabama teaching certificate with certification in special education 2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in special education 3. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 4. Ability to be a self-starter and work independently, as well as a team player in team responsibilities 5. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions 6. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from students, teachers, administrators, parents, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders 7. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports 8. Strong computer skills in database systems and presentation graphics |
| Preferred Qualifications | 1. Master’s Degree 2. Experience with PowerSchool 3. Experience with Schoology |
