The Opportunity:

The Process Improvement Manager will coordinate efforts with OPEX, EMS, and IT resources to facilitate and lead the development of standard Daily Management System (DMS) tools. This role will be directly responsible for the creation and administration of the tools training program, assisting mills with closing gaps through training and direct hands-on engagement when needed. You will need to become proficient in software integral to our division, including PI Vision, PI AF, EKHO, Power BI, Qlik, Microsoft suite of products, and a host of other systems.

You will act as a project manager to transform, build, and maintain the DMS program management platform currently housed in Smartsheet. This role will also be required to travel as needed to aid other DMS team members with audits and best practices development, while capturing, documenting, and communicating success stories. Lastly, the Tools and Systems Manager acts as an internal facilitator for the DMS team, managing weekly review and response meetings, updating the team’s action tracker, and holding team members accountable for delivering commitments on time.

How You Will Impact WestRock:

  • Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the OPEX team in all the systems used to build DMS tools, provide DMS training, audit DMS development, and track DMS deployment progress across all mills.
  • Partner with the Mills Operations OPEX, EMS, and IT teams to ensure all DMS tools are scalable across the network and properly implemented.
  • Support the execution of mills’ DMS plans, while coordinating ongoing work and project schedules for the DMS team.
  • Assist mills’ DMS Coordinators and Regional MBBs in managing the DMS development process through Smartsheet.
  • Attend periodic check-ins with mills and perform audits as needed.
  • Aid in the creation and revision of DMS standard work, templates, communication guides, and best practices.
  • Participate in periodic DMS report outs with Senior Leaders.

What you Need to Succeed:

  • BS/BA in a Technical Degree - MBA Preferred.
  • 3+ relevant years of industry experience with progressive growth in leadership and business impact.
  • Passion and drive to improve systems and processes.
  • Willing to become proficient in Smartsheet, PI suite (PI Vision, PI AF, etc.), EKHO, Qlik, Power BI, Microsoft Office suite and other advanced computer skills.
  • Understanding of core project management fundamentals and tools.
  • Proven ability to influence, lead, and facilitate cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic about DMS, Continuous Improvement, and ability to make others successful.
  • Function as both a team player and an independent leader, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Results oriented and innovative, with a commitment to excellence.
  • Manages and drives change.
  • Ability to travel 50%, both domestic and international.
