We are seeking a Technical Manager with a senior-level engineering background and proven leadership experience. This role combines technical expertise, operational oversight, and team leadership to ensure system reliability, process improvement, and successful project delivery. You will oversee a broad and diverse portfolio of initiatives.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
Technical Ability
- Provide expert guidance on engineering design, development, and implementation.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and quality processes.
- Participate in annual DR testing and maintain recovery plans/scripts.
- Monitor system health, respond to production issues, and prioritize incidents.
- Ensure all technical documentation aligns with ITSM standards and audit requirements.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Manage subordinates, including career advancement and annual activities.
- Build and maintain strong business team relationships.
Project & Delivery Management
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to resolve issues and align priorities.
- Coordinate resource sharing and joint initiatives with other leaders to optimize team performance.
- Oversee end-to-end project execution, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
Stakeholder Communication
- Establish trust and clear communication with business stakeholders to understand priorities and deliver solutions.
- Ensure team objectives support organizational goals and communicate progress to stakeholders regularly.
Process & Quality Improvement
- Manage approvals, documentation, and communication for technical impacts.
- Recommend process improvements, ensure adherence to best practices, and implement alterations that enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
Budget & Resource Planning
- Prepare ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) estimates with key assumptions, risks, and confidence levels.
- Communicate ROM ranges clearly to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
- Support prioritization of demands based on ROM size and strategic impact.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s in Computer Science, Electrical, or related engineering.
- 8+ years of engineering experience (preferred Microsoft stack) with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record in leading technical teams and managing large-scale projects.
- ITSM tools (ServiceNow), disaster recovery planning, incident management.
- Strong technical acumen with hands-on experience in engineering systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
