Special Education Paraprofessional - Self Contained Elementary Classroom Assistant. The special education paraprofessional assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, helps special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and promoting dignity. Paraprofessional Certification Information: All Georgia paraprofessionals must hold a valid Paraprofessional Educator certificate (GaPSC). * Paraprofessional Certification can be completed within the first 30 days of employment. Applicants must hold at least a high school diploma or GED and meet one of: 60 semester/90 quarter hours; associate’s or higher degree; or have passed the GA/Praxis/GACE paraprofessional assessment.
