Special Education Paraprofessional - Self Contained Elementary Classroom AssistantThe special education paraprofessional assists the teacher in daily classroom activities and helps special needs students, caring for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and promoting dignity.Paraprofessional Certification Information: All Georgia paraprofessionals must hold a valid Paraprofessional Educator certificate (GaPSC). Paraprofessional certification can be completed within the first 30 days of employment. Applicants must hold at least a high school diploma or GED and meet federal hiring requirements, and meet one of: 60 semester/90 quarter hours; associate’s or higher degree; or have passed applicable paraprofessional assessments (e.g., GACE).Also required: filing skills, computer skills, classroom management, and other duties as assigned.
