The special education paraprofessional assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, helps special needs students, and cares for their physical and emotional health and safety. Paraprofessional Certification Information: All Georgia paraprofessionals must hold a valid Paraprofessional Educator certificate (GaPSC). Paraprofessional Certification can be completed within the first 30 days of employment. Applicants must hold at least a high school diploma or GED and meet one of the pathways (60 semester/90 quarter hours, associate’s degree, or passing a paraprofessional assessment).
