POSITION TITLE: Substitute Teacher. FLSA: Exempt Professional. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED; experience working with children and parents from diverse backgrounds preferable; completion of an internal training module before first assignment. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: On an as needed basis. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include maintaining a positive learning environment; implementing lessons in the absence of the instructor; ensuring district policies are observed; creating a safe classroom; supervising students; understanding safety procedures; taking attendance and following lesson plans; maintaining confidentiality (FERPA); adapting to circumstances; reporting for duty early and remaining for entire assignment. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS include adhering to policies; protecting students and property; maintaining accurate records; leaving detailed notes for the teacher; and other duties as assigned.
