Performs skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the Water Filtration Facility as directed and scheduled by the Superintendent and Asst. Superintendent. Operates chemical feed systems and assists in the unloading of chemical deliveries. Monitors treatment facility and process using SCADA system. Inspects for proper operation; pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, Backflow preventers, HVAC systems, air compressors, sludge thickening equipment, chemical feed equipment, sludge collection systems, and utility and process water systems. Operates all plant equipment in all aspects of the treatment process.
This job description includes all Career Ladder positions such as Process Control Specialist Apprentice, Process Control Specialist I-A, Process Control Specialist I-B and Process Control Specialist II.
The pay grades range from 08-12. This job description includes all Career Ladder positions such as Process Control Specialist Apprentice (Grade 8), Process Control Specialist I-A (Grade 10), Process Control Specialist I-B (Grade 11) and Process Control Specialist II (Grade 12).
Salary range:
(Grade 8) $17.53 - $21.92 per hour
(Grade 10) $20.45 - $25.57 per hour
(Grade 11) $22.50 - $28.12 per hour
(Grade 12) $24.75 - $30.93 per hour
Salary range may be negotiable in accordance with our policy based on an individual's qualifications, education, experience and special licenses/certifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates chemical feed systems and assists in the unloading of chemical deliveries. Collects operational data for the water treatment process, solids dewatering process, and water discharge process. May be called upon to work additional shifts other than the scheduled shift. Assists in the training of the PCS Apprentices and assists the PCS II's in special projects. Keeps work area neat and clean and assists laborers in keeping the facility in an exceptional manner. Assists maintenance crews in isolating equipment for maintenance. Monitors treatment facility, distribution system, ground water well sites, booster stations, and Fort Moore Water Treatment facility using SCADA system. Must be able to operate the plant in both manual and automatic modes. Completes tasks in accordance with CWW Safety Procedures. Inspects for proper operation; pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, backflow preventers, HVAC systems, air compressors, sludge thickening equipment, chemical feed equipment, odor control systems, sludge handling and moving equipment, and utility and process water systems. Safely uses hand tools and power tools to perform maintenance on plant equipment, including but not limited to drill press, grinders, all hand tools, welders, and cutting torches. Learns to operate all plant equipment in all aspects of the treatment process. Participates in staff meetings and assists management in compiling data and information. From time to time may be called upon by a supervisor to perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year of experience in a water treatment facility as an operator or mechanic preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- A minimum of a Class III Water Treatment Operators Certificate issued by the Georgia State Board of Certification or must obtain within one year of employment required.
- Must climb multiple flights of stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and work in all weather conditions required.
- Must inspect mechanical equipment in operation, detect flaws and defects, read meters and charts accurately, and maintain records of shift operation required.
- Must be able to obtain Ft. Moore access.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and record keeping. Ability to read blue prints.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to draw and read graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

The employee regularly works with and around chemicals, elevated work surfaces, confined spaces, associated tanks, piping, and chemical feed systems commonly found in the water industry.
